The SUNSPEED sunflower cutterbar is the optimal solution for sunflower harvesting. Its unique functional principle enables a significant reduction in both the load on the threshing system and the degree of cleaning required to remove non-grain constituents.

Its high degree of versatility with regard to different row widths and stalk diameters makes the SUNSPEED the universal front attachment for sunflowers.

Functional principle.

Once the sunflowers are collected by the seed pans, the adjustable guide plate ensures that the flower heads are pushed forwards. At the same time, the snapping roller below the knife bar pushes the stalks downwards. In this way, the guide plate and snapping roller prevent the stalks from being cut too soon. The cut is not performed until the sunflower heads are captured by the reel. As a result, only the flower heads reach the intake auger which finally delivers them to the feeder housing.

Row-independent operation.

The new SUNSPEED sunflower cutterbars enable row-independent harvesting and have the flexibility to adjust to extremely varied conditions. The adjustable guide plate maintains a reliable and efficient feed of stems and flower heads to the snapping roller and the knife bar at all times. The gap between the seed pans can be adjusted as required by up to 25 mm to ensure that the flower heads are cut cleanly while also keeping losses to a minimum, regardless of the stem thickness. It is also possible to adjust the angle of the seed pans so that any flow losses are fed reliably to the combine harvester. The SUNSPEED therefore offers excellent flexibility and efficiency – without being tied to fixed row spacing.

Automatic adjustment.

The reel continuously feeds the cut sunflower heads to the intake auger, regardless of the angle which they have assumed. In this way, it helps maintain the crop flow, especially in thinner stands or when the heads are still moist. Reel height adjustment for different stands or varieties can be performed from the cab.

The reel speed can also be set in CEBIS. Further adjustment of the reel speed then takes place automatically on the basis of the ground speed of the combine harvester.

Precise cutting.

The snapping roller helps ensure that the plant is only cut just below the sunflower head. Its speed is synchronised with that of the reel. In addition, it is possible to set a lower speed range by replacing a sprocket.
